ABOUT THE BARRACKS

The Barracks has variously been described as "An Arc against climate collapse", "a living art project" and the "home of the Happy Doomer".

We are here to contemplate the accelerating climate collapse, and exist to pose the following two questions *fully aware that there might not be answers:

• What can we do to minimise the amount of time humans spend in collapse?

• Is there anything that we can do this side of collapse to help with the rebuilding effort on the other side?

We believe that the best state of mind and body, and the best backdrop to ask these questions is one of Radical Authenticity. On a practical level, that means things like we:

• grow all our own food

• have an extensive medical herb garden (in progress)

• contemplate rebuilding after collapse

• practice radical authenticity

• rescue piggies

• love being alive, in the middle of a beautiful forest, far abstracted from civilisation.

• we are working towards self sufficiency in energy. We are self sufficient in almost everything else, including water and waste management.
